The castle is an obvious place to begin. Its walls give Boljun a centre of gravity, and its position above the valley makes the relationship between settlement and landscape immediately visible. Look at the stone, then at the country beyond it.

What makes a visit rewarding is the way the story continues outside the castle. In the civic square, the loggia and the old granary recall a place that governed, gathered and worked. These were practical buildings with practical purposes; their presence helps the old town feel legible.

Around St George, the story turns towards writing and belief. Glagolitic traces belong to a wider regional tradition, but here they remain tied to a particular place. Check access locally if you hope to enter the church.

Then take a lane with no grand destination. Pay attention to thresholds, changing stonework and the way a view appears between houses. The best part of Boljun may be the moment you stop treating it as a collection of sights.
